Arrest made in Opelousas beating and robbery

Police have arrested an Opelousas man in connection with a robbery. 

Officers were investigating a battery complaint that occurred in the 1100 blk. Of N Main St. The victim told police that a male approached him asking for money. The victim said he told the suspect he didn’t and that is when the suspect struck him in the face several times, knocking him unconscious.  The victim stated that the suspect then went into his pants pocket and took forty dollars in cash, and a Samsung cell phone that belonged to a recently deceased family member.

Police used video surveillance in the area that captured the incident described by the victim. The suspect was identified as Muhammad Joubert. , the investigating  officer was able to determine that Joubert was the subject involved in the robbery. 

Police say this is Joubert’s second arrest in less than two weeks.  Last month he was arrested for burglarizing a vehicle on a Church parking lot.
