State Police responded to a head-on crash that claimed the life of an Arnaudville man.
The crash happened just after 6:30 p.m. on LA Highway 347 near Huron Road in St. Martin Parish.
According to Master Trooper Brooks David, a preliminary investigation revealed that Kami Stoute, 22, of Arnaudville was driving northbound on LA 347 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road in a slight left curve.
Stoute overcorrected left, sending the vehicle across the centerline and striking a truck driven by Whitney Chevalier, 73, of Arnaudville.
Although both drivers were wearing seatbelts, they both suffered critical injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Chevalier was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Master Trooper David says impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, but routine toxicology samples were obtained for analysis.
The crash is under investigation.
