Animals safe after fire at Zoosiana Zoo of Acadiana

No animals were injured in a fire late Saturday night at Zoosiana Zoo in Broussard.

Fire Chief Bryan Champagne said Sunday that multiple agencies responded to the fire that began around 10:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Lakeview Road.

Champagne said the fire started in a building where the train is held overnight.

A nearby concession stand was also destroyed by the blaze.

The zoo was not open for visitors at the time and no injuries were reported.
