18-year-old man shot to death at Grand Pointe Apartments pool identified

UPDATE:  The victim has been identified as the Lafayette Parish Coroner as Christian Roper. The shooting remains under investigation, police said.

ORIGINAL: Lafayette police are conducting a homicide investigation after a teen was found shot to death in the parking lot of the Grand Pointe Apartment Complex.

Corporal Bridgette Dugas said the body of an 18-year-old white male was found by police just before 10 p.m.

She said no other information is available at this time pending notification of family.

ORIGINAL:  Lafayette police are on the scene of a shooting at the Grand Pointe Apartment Complex. 

According to police, the shooting happened in the 3600 block of Kaliste Saloom Road just before 10 p.m. 

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered one person suffering from a gunshot wound. 

The victim’s name and condition have not been released.

KLFY is on scene where residents of the complex have gathered, some in disbelief, others saying they heard nothing and were caught off guard by the heavy police presence in their apartment community.
