UPDATE: Pedestrian struck in hit-and-run crash on Marigny Circle dies from injuries, arrest made

UPDATE, 4/13/21: Lafayette Parish sheriff’s deputies have arrested the man involved in an alleged hit-and-run that killed a woman in a crash on Marigny Circle Monday.

Jose Vazquez-Tursios, 32, of Lafayette, has been arrested on charges of negligent homicide, hit-and-run driving and driving with no license.

Sheina Evans, 67, was allegedly struck by Vazquez-Tursios’ vehicle while standing outside her residence, and the suspect fled the scene on foot. Evans later died at a local hospital.

Vazquez-Tursios, was located and returned to the scene of the crash where he was detained. Vazquez-Tursios was transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. The case remains under investigation.

ORIGINAL POST: LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that a pedestrian has been struck in the 300 block of Marigny Circle in Lafayette.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
