Lafayette school board votes to make masks optional once Governor’s mandate expires

Lafayette Parish

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) Masks will be optional at all Lafayette Parish Schools once Governor John Bel Edwards’ statewide mask mandate expires.

Board members voted in favor of the measure 6-2.

The board also considered the new Louisiana Department of Education ‘parent option’ which lets parents decide whether students would quarantine at home or stay in school after a COVID-19 exposure in school.

That vote failed with a 4-4 tie.
