IF NOT NOW, WHEN? 

WHEN I INITIALLY JOINED, I’D SAY IT WAS ABOUT 2005-2006. BACK THEN, ALL I DID WAS WALK. I CAME IN TO JUST USE THE TREADMILL, I HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE REST OF THE GYM LOOKED LIKE.

MY JOURNEY STARTED WITH WANTING A PERSONAL TRAINER DUE TO MEDICAL ISSUES I WAS HAVING WITH HIGH CHOLESTEROL, OSTEOPEROSIS, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND JUST LOOKING IN THE MIRROR AND NOT FEELING GOOD. JUST FEELING LIKE I WANT TO FEEL BETTER. I WAS TO LOOK BETTER. 

MY MOTHER HAD A STROKE AND WAS IN THE HOSPITAL FOR 21 DAYS. THAT WAS AN EYE OPENER FOR ME AND THAT WAS PROBABLY THE BIGGEST TURNING POINT FOR ME REALIZING HEY NOW IS THE TIME. IM NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER.

SO I FINALLY MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH HOLLAND, WHO’S WONDERFUL BY THE WAY, CAME TO VISIT WITH HER AND TALK ABOUT YOU KNOW TRAINING

A MAJOR CHANGE WAS YOUR MINDSET. I HAVE TO BE IN THE MINDSET THAT THERE IS NO QUICK FIX TO GETTING HEALTHY OR LOSING WEIGHT. YOU HAVE TO PUT INTO IT DAILY. THERE’S NO FAD DIET OUT THERE THAT REPLACES GOOD EATING AND EXERCISE. DRINK A TON OF WATER AND NOW I CARRY AROUND THE STAINLESS STEEL JUG WHEREVER I GO. I VE LEARNED PORTION CONTROL, THAT WAS A MAJOR CHANGE FOR ME BECAUSE I JUST THOUGHT EVEN IF IT WAS HEALTHY YOU COULD JUST PILE IT ON AND IVE DISCOVERED THROUGHT PERSONAL TRAINING WEIGHTS. I’VE NEVER DONE WEIGHTS BEFORE AND THAT’S REALLY MADE A DIFFERENCE IN TONING THE MUSCLE AND LOSING THE WEIGHT. I DO MY BEST TO ELIMINATE SUGAR I WATCH MY CARB INTAKE I EAT PLENTY OF VEGETABLES. GOOD FATS. I HAVENT ELIMINATED FAT COMPLETELY, YOU CANT ELIMINATE FAT COMPLETELY. 

SOME OF THE BENFITS INVOLVED IN MY TRAINING INCLUDE ENDURANCE, MY SKIN JUST LOOKS AND FEELS BETTER. IM MORE COMFORTABLE. I FEEL LIKE IM A LOT MORE ACTIVE. I CAN KEEP UP WITH THE YOUNGER ONES. MY ADVICE TO ANYONE WANTING TO LOSE WEIGHT AND GET HEALTHY IS JUST DO IT. DON’T WAIT UNTIL YOU’RE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH HOW YOU LOOK OR HOW YOU FEEL. JUST TRY TO ELIMINATE THAT SNACK THAT EVERYBODY SEEMS TO LIKE TO HAVE. AND THEN IF YOU HAVE LITTLE WEIGHTS AT HOME, USE THEM. IF YOU’RE SITTING THERE WATCHING TELEVISION, DO SOMETHING. THERE’S JUST LOTS OF LITTLE THINGS YOU CAN DO. BUT MY ADVICE IS JUST DO IT. GET MOVING AND DO IT.
