Crowley Primary Care #FrontLineHeros Jeanie Hill is a nurse at UMC. Dr. Odinet has served on the Medical Executive Committee for the last 3 years at Our Lady of Lourdes-Lafayette hospital while still working as an ER Doctor. He is also part owner of XstremeMD (remote healthcare)i n Broussard, LA and working vigorously during this Covid-19 pandemic. Being away from his wife and kids to keep them safe while still serving and helping save lives in the ER at Our Lady of Lourdes-Lafayette and running seven remote telemedicine clinics in different states is being a Health Hero for Covid-19 pandemic. She works for Arbonne and she is going around all of Lafayette and accepting donations of $15 to help support nurses during this time. She puts together little go bags for nurses that give them a pick me up during their stressful hours. She is supporting close to 80 nurses now and continue to grow. He is employed at Super 1 Foods in Opelousas. Working long tireless hours providing groceries & supplies to families This is the Radiology crew at Iberia Medical Center. Radiology is definitely front line, though not mentioned much as front line. A chest X-ray is necessary for anyone with respiratory symptoms not to mention those admitted need a daily chest x-ray, in their room, especially if not ambulatory or on a ventilator. Sgt. Phyllis Tyler-Beverly is a (20) year veteran of O.P.D. Sgt. Tyler-Beverly has served in several capacities at the department including Patrol, School Resource, DARE, and sexual assault investigator. Sgt. Tyler-Beverly who was up until schools were closed during the current Covid-19 Crisis, was serving as a committed DARE officer, School Resource officer, and supervising liaison for the recently created mentoring program for at risk youth. Sgt. Tyler-Beverly at a moments notice proceeded directly back to the frontlines of the patrol division where she was needed to serve as a Team Sgt. to assist in leading other team members in the current crisis. Sgt. Tyler has demonstrated that she is always ready to put her hands on deck, not matter what the assignment or conditions. Pfc. Simmons is a (6) year veteran of the Opelousas Police Department. Pfc. Simmons currently serving in the Patrol Division, has also been assigned to a street level narcotics team since he began his career at O.P.D. Pfc. Simmons who was recently involved in a serious motor vehicle accident returned to duty after minimal time away from the job, indicating his true commitment to serving his community. Marquita is a frontline hero ,because she works registration inside the Emergency Room. Marquita is always a ray of sunshine and brings smiles to anyone one. She has been working tirelessly treating and serving patients diagnosed with COVID-19 since it’s onset in Lafayette all while uplifting her family, attending school to obtain her RN license and helping her classmates with assignments. Mitchell Zeno: Truck Driver. Works for Sysco. Up every morning at 3:00 a.m. to deliver food to “Grocery Stores”, and “Restaurants”. Thank You and all your fellow employees. Priscilla LeJeune, McKesson Driver, and more importantly my Mom. She has served the Acadiana area for over 23 years with delivering medical supplies to Doctor offices and medical facilities with a smile and a giggle. Priscilla stands in multiple lines, answers a series of questions and has her temperature checked over 20 times a day to ensure that the medical professionals are able to take care of patients. My brother Scott Fontenot from Ville Platte is working with the president to bring those big tents across country to every place that needs them plus everything else they need delivered medical wise or whatever.. he’s been gone for months now away from his daughter and grandchild & son-in-law barely getting rest staying up hours and hours at a time get what everybody needs.. He has a big heart and loves what he does and is a very hard worker.. He’s been a truck diver for 18-20 years now.. Allison LeJeune; she is my Frontline Hero. She is a registered respiratory therapist at OLOL. She is amazing at what she does. She gives her all. She gives a portion of her heart with every person she comes in contact with. This is her 3rd year working. Her smile is contagious and she is a perfect role model for any young lady to follow after. I’m blessed to not only call her my Frontline Hero, but she is my godchild! Pfc. Sylvester is currently (9) months into her second time joining O.P.D. Pfc. Sylvester had previously served with the department for over (2) years before she departed to fulfill her motherly duties to a newborn son. Pfc. Sylvester never lost her passion for Law Enforcement following in the footsteps of her mother Ms. Peggy Sylvester who served as a Corrections Supervisor for both the Opelousas Police Dept. and the St. Landry Sheriff’s Office. Pfc. Sylvester has a strong passion for her job and is committed to serving in this current crisis. Pfc. Sylvester prior to the current crisis causing a disruption in classes was taking it upon herself to become proficient in sign language so she can better serve the community. Pfc. This call is to provide information from OGHS, resources and to insure that all information is disseminated equally throughout the parish. This call is proven to be informative and provide value to leaders in making decisions as it impacts the citizens, clients and community. Each day Tracey gives a report that provides information on the status of cases in St. Landry Parish in addition to sharing information about resources for our most vulnerable populations. Sgt. Brandon Harris is a (13) year veteran of O.P.D. Sgt. Harris has served in several capacities since his time with the department, including Patrol, Investigations, and Narcotics. Sgt. Harris has been one of the most productive and proactive officers of O.P.D. during his tenure at the department. Currently serving as an investigator Sgt. Harris is tasked with the investigations of major crimes, which unfortunately are more complex and challenging during the current crisis that society faces. Sgt. Harris has stayed committed to making sure the cases that he is tasked with investigating are thoroughly investigated and justice is served. Sgt. Harris is on the front lines of making sure major criminal offenders are brought to justice to ensure public safety during the current Covid-19 crisis. Lt. Lacomb is a (20) year veteran of O.P.D. Lt. Lacomb has served as the Opelousas City Jail Warden during his time with the department. Lt. Lacomb is currently serving as one of (4) shift Lieutenants that are tasked with leading the men and women of the patrol division that represent the true frontline of law enforcement daily, and especially during the current pandemic. Lt. Lacomb has led his team by not only being concerned for the safety of the community, but the safety and well being of his team. Lt. Lacomb’s team has recently been credited with handling major investigations during the current crisis. Lt. Lacomb has continued to stay committed to the job even after overcoming major health issues of his own. Sara Gigliotti has been an RN in the emergency department at University Hospital in Lafayette. Sara is also a mother of two daughters, one 11 and the other 3 months. Sara returned to work after maternity leave in early February. Knowing all the risks, she continues to go to work and help all patients! She also found time to reach out to her community, and get masks donated for her entire department! Taylor LaPorte works at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in ICU. Taylor has been an RN for about a year. Taylor wakes up every day with a beautiful heart and she deserves to be honored. She is on the front lines of this virus and we are so proud of her. Dot Duhon has made over 500 masks to protect health care workers form the Corona Virus . She generously gives them out . Eric Duane Terry has been employed in the medical field for more than 15 years. This past month has really pushed Duane to show and prove his love for others. He wakes up every day ready and willing to serve during this Corona Virus pandemic by putting himself last and all others first. He’s on call 24 hours delivering to medical facilities daily making sure that all patients have needed equipment in place. He’s always behind the scenes offering patients, staff, and everyone he comes into contact with encouraging words. Emily is a Lead Therapist – RRT at AMG Specialty Hospital. Shes been on the frontline as a respiratory therapist working very long hours. Jada Narcisse from St Martinville is a Medical Assistant-Nurse that loves taking care of her patients at Bayou Region Family Practice. Just today I heard her calling one of her elderly patients back just to check and see how she was feeling! She is one Awesome Person with the love and passion for the job she does each day on the front line and we Love her so much. Easton Shelvin is the deputy supervisor at the Opelousas City Marshall’s Office and the Pastor of The Truth Is Ministries. Kelly Segura has been a registered nurse for over 13 years. She’s currently a Neonatal Charge Nurse at Women’s and Children’s Hospital where she’s been employed for over 11 years. Her love, dedication, caring heart, and warm spirit are not the only qualities that make her a Front Line Hero, but also her faith in God as a healthcare employee and believing that she serves as a vessel in God’s healing hands. Kelly continues to work hard on the front lines, with a positive attitude as she leads her team in the care, recovery, and healing of her patients. Frontline workers in New Orleans John-Michael Bellard works in ER at Our Lady of Lourdes Women and Children’s hospital. John-Michael graduated from UL in December and started his career as an RN in January. Erin Forgey works in NICU at Our Lady of Lourdes Women and Children’s. Erin has been an RN in NICU at Women & Children’s hospital since 2016. Eric Robert is a food service truck driver. He works for Coastal Food Services. He delivers groceries to offshore workers. Eric is a people person who has a witty personality and extremely funny. He loves meeting people. He has a wife and two sweet children whom he has to leave just about every day to continue to deliver food to offshore workers! Susan Edwards Jones is a resident of Lafayette, LA and is working frontline of the battle against COVID-19. Susan has been a Charged Registered Nurse at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, on the Med-Surge floor for 29 years and Opelousas General Hospital, on the L-TAC floor for 15 years. She takes pride in her work, enjoys taking care of patients, as well as offering passionate support to them and their families. RN Lyle Prejean is very compassionate about the patients and employees at Lafayette General Medical Center. Lyle is willing to help others no matter what the task is. He is passionate about his work and for the safety of everyone involved!! Example: If a patient needs help showering or needs to be changed, he will help instead of delegate. Lyle is a man of Love and he is no respecter of persons. We love Lyle because he stands for what is right! Cherie Ameist works for Lafayette General at the Cancer Center she sits at the front desk. When you are feeling down she brightens up your day with a smile and good spirits . She a RN at Lafayette General on the six floor. Abby is very compassionate about her job and makes sure her patients or well taken care of. Front line hero Lois Thomas is my awesome mom. She has been a nurse for 19years. She works at Maison Teche Nursing home in jeanerette Louisiana. She takes great pride in what she does. The residents and they family love her so much. I ask that everyone keeps her in they prayers along with all the other front line heroes. Katie O’Donnell is on the front line at UHC ICU. We miss seeing her but she is doing what she loves. She is a RN in the unit Mr. Shelton Anthony (director) and Mr. Bradley Pickney (assistant director) along with their teams of the Opelousas General Hospital environmental services department, tirelessly keep their facilities, main and south campus, clean and disinfected 24/7. Their hard work and dedication is consistently carried out with a smile! Lt. Dwayne Bertrand has worked for the Lafayette Police Department for over 20 years now. He is one of the most respected officers in the department. He goes above and beyond helping people of the City of Lafayette. He has worked long hours to make sure the residents, and visitors of Lafayette are safe during this pandemic. PO Corey Dekerlegand just completed his first year on the job. After graduating from ALETA in Lafayette he immediately joined the Patrol Division. Corey is a smart, kind, and considerate officer. At a moment’s notice he responds to a call for duty. One thing that makes him stand out among others is his keen sense of knowing what is going on around him. He has the ability to confront the biggest problem with his people skills. During this pandemic, he has not panicked at all. He treats all citizens with the upmost respect. He has a bright future and you will see him for many years on the job, doing what he does best. Lt. Dwight Brown wears so many titles: DARE Officer, Jail Warden, Shift Commander, Pastor, Horseman, KrackTea, School Resource Officer, Husband , Fater, Grandpa and the list goes on and on. He can also be described as the “Gentle Giant.” He spends much of his time trying to make a difference in this community. His strength is, he’s a good listener. In this day, you must have a sensitive ear. He has a heart for the people. Serving more than 25 years in Law Enforcement, he has the ability to bring calmness to any violent situation. The group from Acadiana have been in New Orleans for the last month and will be at least through the end of April testing people that possibly have coronavirus. I thank God for our National Guard. Mr. Glover is on the frontline giving out mask to the elderly and citizens of the community. He paid for these mask out of his own pocket without hesitation. Nurse Chasity Fontenot has been a dedicated nurse for 15 plus years working for Savoy Medical hospital in Mamou. She’s working in a satellite office in Ville Platte La for Dr Cantu. She goes outside to swab patients that they determine the need to swab for the Corona Virus. She’s very dedicated to everyone that comes through their office. Captain Shane Bruno, Lafayete Fire Dept. Station More than just a Fireman. Helps all that asks him and many that just needs help. Rescues Sick, underprivileged, elderly, helps children, really anyone that needs the help. Cuts grass for free, replaces fences for free, collects toys for Xmas for children who wouldn’t have gifts otherwise. Wants no thanks or anything in return ever. Just quietly serves. He really deserves recognition for all he does. Like I said he’s more than just a Firefighter. Ask anyone in the Fire Dept or anyone that knows him. Truly the kindest person I know Varetta Broussard works at Magnolia Estates Nursing Home. She goes over and beyond, wherever she is needed at work. Christuana Jackson Jenkins LPN at Eunice Manor Nursing Angela Henry Carmouche is a RN at Lafayette General Hospital. Anita Thomas owner of Munchies Lunchbox Express. For the past 12 years Anita has supported the Lafayette Council in Aging Meals on Wheels program through donations and and food drives to help feed the elderly in our community. Recently she headed up a fund to provide groceries to the elderly in the Lafayette area. Because of her and other contributors they were able to provide 105 grocery food baskets during the COVID-19 crisis. Clyde have been a registered nurse since 2005. A graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge. Clyde worked 14yrs at Tulane Hospital in New Orleans in ER and 6 years as a Pic line nurse with Dynamic Infusion Therapy. His passion is peoples health and well being he’s currently working as a dialysis nurse for Davita. My best friend Becky Bares, she works at Lafayette General Hospital, she is an amazing nurse , spent 20 plus years in labor and delivery now she is on the front line checking temps on everyone coming in and other different things , thank you my friend for your service Hi this is my daughter Shannen Theriot who is a RN at Our Lady of Lourdes. Dr. Hargrave has gone above and beyond for his colleagues and staff to minimize exposures. Let’s recognize this true hero and his selfless acts Myra Lewis has been an LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE for 30+ years. She actively pushes forth on the frontlines at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley. She is an amazing nurse, with a stern but loving manner, she has helped train a majority of the nurses graduating in the Acadiana area. However working on the frontline as a meds urge nurse now. She has specialized in pediatric nursing for many years. She serves on the board of directors at Acadia St. Landry hospital in Church Point where she resides. Although she has faced a few adversities of her own, she never let them interfere with her passion for nursing. During this epidemic she works hard to ensure all the residents stay safe and always looks out for the employees health and safety. She loves helping people & bringing joy to all of those she encounters! Uplifting people around her is one of her passions. A few years ago, she and my son went through a divorce. Liz pretty much lost control of life. She went through rehab for over a year. She had to let her nursing license go. But in the last 3 years we have watched her pick herself up, working diligently on regaining her life even better than it was before. She worked hard at earning her license back. She is an RN at one of the hospitals in Lafayette and is assigned 5 covid patients. I only found this out last night. She had not let me know because she knew I would be fearful. Lakeysha Ruffins working in New Orleans to help with Covid-19. Miriam is a very caring RN that don’t talk much and that makes her a good listener. She has been deployed to New York City. She made this decision because of her big heart and the love for nursing patients back to good health. Our family is very proud of her. Mark is committed to helping all of the residents at the facility, from making certain they have their basic needs to screening employees before they come in the facility. She also tries to keep everyone safe and informed about the importance of COVID-19. Lori Courville is a caregiver in her own home who has stepped up during this trying time for all of us. Lori created a Facebook page and rallied a group of ladies together to donate and collect materials for masks. Those same ladies made and distributed masks. Lori also reached out to local hospitals, law enforcement agencies, home care givers, nursing homes, businesses, and others to find out if they needed masks. Lori would then let the group know who needed what, and made sure everyone was taken care of. Brandy Moore is an LPN who works for one of the nursing homes in Rayne, Louisiana. Brandy is a praying Woman of God and she loves praying for and with others. She has a giving heart, infectious smile, and has such a beautiful-sweet spirit. I would like to nominate my husband Derrick Guidry he has been working to Fed Ex Freight for a year and 2 months and he makes sure business get their deliveries that need to supply for their customers on a daily basis! This is Officer Evan Smith of the Duson Police Department who selflessly puts his life on the line proudly protecting all citizens in the Town of Duson daily!! Though they practice Social Distancing in the Police Department, Officer Evan Smith will help anyone in need!! She’s a EMT first responder that work for Med Express Ambulance Service. She has been dedicating her life working around the clock multiple days of the week to help with those in need of medical help during this crisis. I’m nominating Annette Harris as a front line hero. Annette works at Our Lady of Lourdes Women and Children’s hospital as a respiratory therapist in the NIC Unit; she also works on the travel team that responds all over Acadiana. Annette has always been a committed health care provider and during this pandemic it is people like her who put their lives on the line for us and they should be recognized. Needless to say, I’ve known him for a long time and have ALWAYS been inspired by his dedication as a nurse. I have watched Jake go from a novice nurse to an amazing mentor and leader on his unit. In tough situations, he is the one you go to. Morgan Elizabeth Thompson, RN, of St. Francisville, works at Baton Rouge General It is with great pleasure that I nominate my good friend, Helen Ajala, for consideration for the 2020 Frontline Hero. Once Coronavirus epidemic became the order of the day, Helen engaged in emergency level of caring for all her friends and community, by being proactive and willing to do more. She became the lifeline for her friends and community with willingness to go extra mile, she uses holistic perspective and goes beyond the call of duty. In addition to performing her job at an exemplary level, Helen demonstrates an extra ordinary commitment to her clinic, as well as her community. She is usually the first person to get to the clinic and the last to leave the clinic. Helen takes it upon herself to provide exceptional support and services to worried community and friends, who relied of her for preventive information relating to the virus. She discerns the need of families and efficiently provide them with key information, recommendation, and directions. She provided protective gears to surrounding communities such as gloves, mask, allergy medicine, food, grocery, etc. One member of our community referred to her, as an angel. Another said that Helen is an angel in a human form. As another example, when a parent in her community panicked and suspected that her child may have gotten the virus, Helen calmed her and reassured her that the child will be fine. She took time out of her busy schedule and attended to the family, took temperature of the child and even bought food for the family. Luckily the child temperature dropped after she ate a nutritious meal and took a nap. Helen is the kind of healthcare provider who gives her talent and time compassionately to my family, community and all that knows her. Helen’s value to us can never be overestimated. Helen epitomizes servant leadership and inspire others to give back and pay it forward. My daughter looks up to Helen and says she wants to be like Ms. Helen and take care of sick children and the community, someday. Helen has spent twenty (20) years as a nurse practitioner, an employee of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical subsidiaries- St Bernadette Community Clinic, serving the homeless and uninsured in the community.
