Rouses grocery store celebrated its grand opening today in New Iberia. It’s the company’s fourth store to open in the Acadiana area.

“For this store we had to create about 150 jobs for the community and that will be sustained through the life of the store,” says Ali Rouse Royster. “We will have part-timers, full-timers, high school kids, people who want to make a career of it. Rouses is a growing company.

The number of job opportunities in the city is  growing with a number of new businesses opening.

In recent weeks we have had places like Tropical Smoothie Café locate here. We’ve had Captain D’s Seafood locate here, and we had Sprint locate here, says Alvin Stutts a New Iberia resident who says he’s been pushing for a Rouses in the city for eight years. ”The store is going to grow our population and it’s giving people a lot of great jobs, he added.

Hobby Lobby located next to Rouses will open in May.
