Move for Hunger plans to fill local pantries with Mardi Gras food drive

Mardi gras food drive part one

Acadiana Movers with Move for Hunger is sponsoring a first Annual Red Beans and Rice Mardi Gras food drive to benefit FoodNet.

“This time of year is challenging for many families that are food insecure and we are providing food drop boxes,” said Jill Potier, co-owner of Acadiana Movers.

Locations include Raising Canes Lafayette, T-Coon’s, Robbie Breaux EXP Real Estate,  and Bead Busters and Float Rental.

“As we celebrate our Mardi Gras season with king cake and parties many families are struggling to put food on the table,  so during this holiday season we would like to support FoodNet in providing for our local families that are in need,” Potier added.

Boxes will be out at the locations listed from February 18th thru Tuesday, March 5th.

Move For Hunger is a nonprofit hunger relief organization that mobilizes the relocation industry to fight hunger and reduce food waste. In addition to collecting food from people who are moving to new homes, Move For Hunger helps companies and individuals across the United States and Canada organize successful food drives. To date, they have collected nearly 13 million pounds of food – enough to provide meals for over 10 million people in need.
