BLUE'S BLOG

Maverick and I were discussing the fact that every time Acadiana experiences severe thunderstorms or heavy rainfall, we see an immediate spike in the number of animals reported lost or missing.  Many of our pets are terrified of thunder and lightning, which causes them to bolt during stormy weather, and the bad weather, coupled with high winds, can sometimes knock down even the sturdiest-looking fences.

That's why it's essential that your pet wears a snug collar (not too tight) and updated tags.  Maverick and his brother Cody wear three tags.  The first is their current rabies tag, issued by their veterinarian Dr. Wexler during their annual check-up.  That tag carries a serial number that is on file with Lafayette Animal Control, with our current contact information. The second is their ID tag with their name, our address and my cell phone number.  The final one is their AVID microchip tag, so that if they do end up away from home, whoever finds them will know they have been microchipped, and that all our contact information can be found by scanning the chip located right between their shoulder blades.

That's why Maverick is asking you-right now-to make sure your pet has all the protection he needs.

1-Current rabies tag

2-Current ID tag with up-to-date owner contact information

3-Microchip tag

It only takes a few minutes to make sure your pet is protected, just in case the unthinkable happens.  Since he can't tell anyone who he is or where he lives, his tags can do the talking for him.  :)
