Dispute in Opelousas ends in gunfire

A 30 year old man and his 28 year old sister are in jail after Opelousas Police responded to a complaint of gun shots fired Monday night. It happened near the 1200 block of Stella Drive.

Authorities revealed that Nagathia Malveax called the victim telling him it was alright for him to visit her residence. Once there Lawrence Chenier began to argue with the victim in the driveway, which then led to a fight. As the victim attempted to leave, Malveaux handed Chenier a handgun who then fired several shots towards the victim's vehicle.

No one was injured in the incident. Chenier is charged with attempted 2nd degree murder and Malveaux is charged with principle to attempted 2nd degree murder. The investigation is ongoing.
