Attempted murder suspect turns himself in

UPDATE:  Suspect Turns Himself In to Police

Lafayette, La – Overnight, suspect Jermaine Pete turned himself in to law enforcement for the charge of Attempted Second Degree Murder. 

The investigation remains ongoing.


Lafayette, LA-On July 28, 2014, at approximately 12:30 am, Lafayette Police officers responded to the report of a stabbing in the 6100 Block of Johnston Street. It was reported that the victim of the stabbing had left and gone to a local hospital for care.

Witnesses reported to officers that a fight had occurred and the victim was stabbed twice during the altercation. During the course of the investigation detectives were able to identify the suspect as 29 year old Jermaine Pete of Scott, La.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Jermaine Pete for Attempted Second Degree Murder.

The victim was treated and released. There were no other injuries reported.

Detectives are encouraging anyone with information on the whereabouts of Pete to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
