U.S. veterans are some of our country's most treasured hero's. Whether they fought in WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam or the Gulf War, they have made sacrifices that many of will never know.
There treatment and care when they return from combat has been a big topic of discussion nationwide. VA hospitals were created to give the vets the medical care they need once they return to civilian life.
VA hospitals have been investigated for a number of discrepancy's from wait times to not giving vets their full benefits. Congressman Charles Boustany worked in the New Orleans VA hospital when he was in college and says he knew years ago changes needed to be made, to assure veterans better treatment.
"We saw the indiscripancies and delays but we had a tough time getting to the bottom of it. I think the combination of investigating journalism and congressional oversight has applied disinfectant to the problem. People understand there were intimidation tactics used against VA employees. It's all out in the open and now we can clean it up." said Congressman Boustany.
