Former Arnaudville Police Chief Killed in Crash

Posted: Updated:
Former Arnaudville Police Chief Michael Duplechain was killed following a motorcycle crash Tuesday.  The accident happened in the 100 block of Hector Connolly Road on the east side of a roundabout.  Carencro Police tell News 10 that Duplechain was riding his motorcycle eastbound through the roundabout when he lost control, struck the curb and then a street sign before being thrown from the bike.  Duplechain was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash but Carencro Police do not believe that the helmet was up to Department of Transportation standards.  Duplechain served as Arnaudville's police chief for two terms from 1995 to 2003.
