Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

A traffic stop in Bayou Vista turned up nearly $25-thousand in drugs and cash over the weekend.

33-year-old James Gash of Patterson was arrested and faces multiple drug charges following the stop. According to police, Gash was stopped for having no visible license plate on his car.

After receiving consent to search the car, police found over $13-thousand worth of crack cocaine, nearly $12-hundred worth of marijuana, and a bag of MDMA capsules. Police also seized over nine-thousand dollars in cash believed to be from drug sales. Police say Gash also had a 5-year-old minor in the car with him at the time.

Gash was booked into the St. Mary Parish Jail with a $97-thousand bond.
