"I just recently opened up a school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for Charter Schools USA; Baton Rouge Charter Academy at mid-city. So, I just opened that school last year. Now I made the move to Lafayette to take on that new challenge again. I'm looking forward to being Lafayette. I am a USL graduate. So, I'm happy to be back in Lafayette."

Stoudt says Acadiana Renaissance will provide quality education with decisions based on what's best for the students.

"They come first. We will provide personalized learning plans for all the students. We will measure where they are when they come in and make a plan for each one of them in order to help them to achieve their potential." the school will open as a k thru 6 school...the next year 7th grade then 8th grade after that. In addition to personalized learning plans - the school will have a behavior plan.

Stoudt: "Most of the time we try to keep the students in the school however if the need arises we will send them home on out of school suspension. However we do have programs that we can keep them in school as well."

Stoudt explains the target capacity is 680 students. Teachers have been hired but there's some slots that will need to be filled." We are going to be a great school providing quality education. We are going to provide a safe and nurturing environment.

We do expect parent involvement. That is something that sets us apart. So we look forward to working with the community, parent and students as well.

The Lafayette Charter School off Pont des Mouton Road has hired veteran educator Latonia Harris. Harris has served in a variety of educational roles, including teacher and principal in the Miami-Dade county public school system in Florida.

She has experience leading schools with diverse student populations including those in special education.
