The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) in Lafayette, Louisiana will be adding another milestone to their growing start-up here in Acadiana. The video game design, programming, and 3D animation/VFX school will be presenting Advanced Diplomas to 10 graduating students on June 17, 2014.
The Academy of Interactive Entertainment was established in Australia in 1996 opening up a location in Canberra and then expanding to additional campuses in Melbourne and Sydney. AIE then ventured into the U.S. by opening up a campus in Seattle, WA (2010) and Lafayette, LA (2011). AIE chose Lafayette as a campus location to support the growing digital media industry in the state by training students to work in games and film. Within the past 2 and a half years, AIE Lafayette has grown to 36 full-time students, two full-time faculty members, and two full-time staff members.
Zachary Barker, Executive Director of The Opportunity Machine at the Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA), has been a great asset to AIE since his time at LEDA-OM began last year. His work at the OM and LEDA has had a great impact on the success of AIE Lafayette.“An advanced education is something that few individuals will pursue, however, for those that do, they will find the rewards to have a compounding positive effect”, Barker stated. “The students of AIE personify the commitment to improvement and growth that provide hopes to others in this community regarding the excellence and expectations oftomorrow'sbusiness and community leaders.”
The graduation ceremony will take place on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 inside the theater at the Louisiana Immersive Technologies (LITE) building on Cajundome Blvd. and will begin at 6:00 PM. Local community and business leaders are welcome to attend.
