Since Memorial Day, Crowley police have responded to a rash of what they're calling "kick-in" type residential burglaries.
The department has noticed a rise is thefts in a small portion of the community. "We have six residential burglaries in one specific area of town, about six or eight block radius of each other. During this time persons are kicking in doors and what they're doing from that aspect is going in and taking electronics, guns and some currency within the residence" says Crowley Police Chief, KP Gipson.
Based on the way these crimes are being carried out, police believe it's the same group individuals, and are working several leads that may result in an arrest. Gipson says, "We've increased our man power trying to resolve this as well as our investigative matters trying to get this matter solved as quickly as possible. What were trying to do is make sure our citizens are Holio what's going on. Walking to be involved and be out there watching and recording, but we also want to be cautious about approaching people."
During these summer days there are a few ways to keep your home out of harms way. If you do plan on being out for an extended period of time, investing in a security system may not be a bad idea. Also alert your neighbors so they can keep an eye on your property.
"We also ask that you consider not placing a lot of information on Facebook pages not only in this matter but in others. We've had people take the information from there and utilize it to benefit or aid them in doing crime, so we definitely don't want that to be something."
If you have any information that may lead to the capture of these suspects call 911 or the Crowley Police Department at 783-1234.
