Suspect Captured in Shotgun Robbery

Updated:
St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena said, “Deandre Jaleel Leday of Opelousas has been booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail facing charges of armed robbery with a firearm.”

Captain Vizena said, “The victim told deputies that he was approached by Leday on June 10 around midnight. Leday asked the victim to use his cell phone. While the victim handed the phone to Leday, an unknown male subject pointed a pump shotgun to the victim’s head while Leday reached into the victim’s vehicle and stole his wallet. Leday and the unknown subject fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.”

“Leday was located and booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail with no incident; however, investigators are still unable to identify the other armed suspect. If you have any information about this crime, you are urged to call St. Landry Crime Stoppers at 948-TIPS,” Vizena added.

Leday is being held in the St. Landry Parish Jail with a $200,000 bond.
