Every Saturday, residents of the City of Scott can enjoy fresh, locally grown vegetables at the new Farmer's Market. On May 31st, Mayor Purvis Morrison hosted the grand opening, after a rough start thanks to Mother Nature. Sunshine finally peaked through the clouds, as residents shopped around for veggies and crafts. Morrison said the concept for the market was to offer opportunities for farmers and local artisans, while expanding on what the downtown area has to offer. Located at 916 Cayret Street, everyone has the chance to take advantage of local coffee shops, art and antique centers and Goodwill before picking up cucumbers, tomatoes and squash from the market. "Have a little breakfast, walk around, pick up some vegetables, pick up some pies, go pick up some antiques, go look at some art, go shop in the Goodwill. It brings a sense of community effort," said Morrison The market will open every Saturday from 7am until noon.
