An arrest has been made in the 2010 hit and run death of 17 year old Tyrell Jenkins. Opelousas Police Chief Perry Gallow held a press conference Friday to inform Jenkins' family on the details on the arrest of 22 year old Deonta Ware.
Ware was arrested Friday and charged with first degree murder. Ware's vehicle struck Jenkins while he was riding his bike. The impact threw him almost 70 feet, and he suffered a broken neck, back, shattered pelvis and severe head trauma.
It was a very emotional day for the family of Tyrell.
"Shirley Jenkins:"He just didn't get a chance to see her you know."
Chief Perry Gallow said they are grateful for the ability to put this case together and to make sure that this individual is not allowed to walk the streets of Opelousas again.
