Lafayette Police Investigate Two Overnight Home Invasions

Lafayette, LA – On May 24, 2014, at approximately 2:00 am, Lafayette Police responded to the 400 block of Sunbeam Lane regarding a home invasion.  According to the 6 victims inside of the home, 4 black male suspects entered the home by way of a rear window with guns and knives.  Once inside, the suspects stole phones and money and then fled the area on foot.  No one inside of the residence was injured during the robbery.

At approximately 3:30 am, Lafayette Police responded to an apartment in the 900 block of Lamar Street regarding a home invasion.  The two victims advised police they were inside of their apartment when four suspect wearing all black and bandanas on their face entered through the front door armed with pistols.  The suspects struck both victims in the head area and began searching the apartment.  Two residents of a neighboring apartment overheard the commotion and went to the apartment to investigate.  The suspects robbed the neighbors of their money and cell phones.  They also stole a pistol and electronic equipment from the apartment.  The suspects fled the area by unknown means.  Two of the victims were transported to an area hospital and treated for their injuries.

It is unknown at this time if the two incidents are related.  Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department are encouraging anyone with information about either home invasion to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
