Suspect arrest after using juvenile to hide drugs

According to Sheriff Mike Couvillon, Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics division recently made following arrests for drug related offenses due to undercover operations conducted within the parish.

 While working narcotics criminal patrol, agents made a traffic stop in the Delcambre area. Upon conducting the stop, agents identified the driver as Kyle Brasseaux, (dob 9-4-88). A brief investigation, by the agents lead to the seizure of crystal methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. Brasseaux was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to distribute crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

 After receiving information that illicit narcotics were being dealt from a residence in Gueydan, agents gathered intelligence, and traveled to the suspected residence to investigate further. Upon arriving agents, encountered Byron Hebert (dob 11-24-82) of Gueydan. An investigation and search of the residence ensued. Agents were able to locate suspected marijuana inside of the residence. It was further learned that upon the agents’ arrival, Hebert had given the illicit drug to a juvenile student who was visiting the residence and asked the juvenile to hide the drug. Hebert was charged with possession of marijuana and distribution of marijuana to a student. 

Jennifer Gaspard (dob 2-28-83) of Kaplan was arrested by the for failure to appear for a probation and parole revocation hearing.

Sheriff Couvillon would like to applaud the concerned citizens of Vermilion Parish for their awareness and assistance in helping the Sheriff’s Office in fighting the war on illegal drugs.
