In a commitment from Broussard Police Chief Brannon Decou, the Broussard Police Department has continued its efforts to detour the flow of illegal drugs in and out of the City of Broussard.
Chief Decou reports that today the Broussard Police Department stopped a vehicle on US Hwy 90 for a traffic violation. The driver hesitated before pulling over and the officer observed furtive movements inside of the suspect vehicle. The officer made contact with the driver, identified as Jordan Webster 32 YOA of California & Lafayette and immediately detected an odor of fresh marijuana.
An occupant identified as Diontre Noel 20 YOA from California & Lafayette was present also. Webster admitting to possessing marijuana inside of the vehicle and a subsequent vehicle search revealed 3.1 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia as well as $51,936 in US Currency concealed in two different areas of the vehicle.
All contraband and US Currency was seized in accordance with Louisiana search & seizure laws.Webster claimed responsibility for the contraband and was transported to LPCC where he was booked on the following charges: possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, transactions involving drug proceeds, driving under suspension, & operating a vehicle without license plate lights.
