Claiborne Parish man wanted in connection with theft by fraud charges

Investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office are asking for the public's assistance in locating Gregory Donnell Lewis, 27, Libson, Louisiana.

Lewis contacted victims in St. Martin Parish saying that he was with SMILE Community Action Agency and would pay all of their bills for a few months. He further instructed them that in order for him to do so, they had to go to Wal-Mart and purchase a green dot prepaid Visa card, provide him with the pin number, and then he would pay their bills.

Once the victim called him and provided him with the pin number, he disconnected his phone. He is also attempting the same scam to victims in Iberia Parish. Investigators would like to warn potential victims to never provide any personal information to someone over the phone, and to never provide someone with either cash or credit cards in connection with scams such as this.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Lewis is asked to contact the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office at (337) 394-3071.
