Warrants issued for suspects in South Sterling shooting

Lafayette police have issued warrants for two Lafayette men wanted in connection with a shooting on South Sterling on Saturday.
Derrick Peter Williams (18) and Gene Celestine (18) are both wanted.
Williams is wanted for two counts of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and Celestine is wanted for two counts of Principal to Attempted 2nd Degree Murder.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the suspects is encouraged to call Lafayette police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
Lafayette police responded to the 800 block of South Sterling on Saturday regarding a shooting.When officers arrived they located two victims (18), both of Lafayette. The victims advised officers that they were visiting a person in the area when the two suspects arrived and a disturbance erupted between the 4 males.
During the altercation one of the suspects produced a handgun and fired multiple times in the direction of the victims. One of the victims was struck in the calf and the other victim was struck in the ankle. The victims sought medical aid at an area hospital. The two suspects fled the area prior to officers arriving.
Lafayette Police believe they have identified the two suspects responsible for the shooting. More information about the investigation will be released as it becomes available Detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the shooting to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
