New things in Ville Platte

This Spring Mayor Jennifer Vidrine says they started a new community garden, spent about $155 thousand on new police new cars and cameras. And this Summer Ville Platte will have the city's first Boys and Girls Club and hot meals for the elderly.

But, mayor Vidrine says the vast majority of the money for new features didn't require any tax money at all from the city.  Thanks to a $1.3 million state grant mayor Vidrine was able to open a 64 acre park that would include softball and baseball fields.

Across town the Boys and Girls Club will soon be operating out of the old city hall building.

Vidrine says the hot meals for the elderly will be served up at the Martin Luther King Community Center.
