Crash With Critical Injuries

Updated:
On Monday May 5, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Deputies received a call of serious traffic crash in the 4700 block of Landry Road, near its intersection of S. Fieldspan Road.

The crash involved a pickup truck driven by Ralph Hogan 90 years old, turned east onto Landry Road from Fieldspan Road at the same time that Jonathan Strandridge 32 years old from Maurice was loading an excavator onto a trailer on the roadway.  Strandridge is employed by Gulfgate Contractors and just completed trenching an area off of Landry Road.

Hogan stated as he turned onto Landry Road the sun blinded him temporarily and he struck Strandridge who was standing at the back of the trailer securing the ramps pinning Strandridge between the trailer and Hogan’s truck.  Routine toxicology tests are pending and Hogan was uninjured in the crash.  Strandridge is listed in critical condition undergoing surgery at a Lafayette Hospital.

No citations have been issued at this point but  the investigation continues.
