OPD Robbery suspect sought

On May 3rd at approximately 10:50pm, the Opelousas Police Department responded to a call involving an armed robbery at a convenience store located on the 1100 block of W. Vine Street in Opelousas. 

Victims stated that at approximately 10:45, a black male subject entered the store wearing a black hoodie with a black bandana and dark glasses on his face.  Victims stated that the subject produced a black hand gun and fired one shot toward one of the beverage coolers before ordering everyone to get down on the floor.  Victims stated that the subject ordered them to put the money from the cash register in a bag. 

The subject took the bag of money containing approximately $700 in cash and left the area on foot.  The suspect in this case is described as a light complexioned black male, approximately six feet tall, with a slender build.  No one was hurt in the incident.  Anyone with any information in reference to this case can contact the Opelousas Police Department at 337-948-2500.
