Vehicle crashes in Acadiana claim lives

It was a deadly weekend in and around Acadiana after an Ohio couple and two other adults died in motor vehicle crashes. 

On Friday, an Ohio couple 56 year old Ricky Chester and his wife, Karen,were pronounced dead at the scene of that fiery I-10 basin crash. Police say Chester plowed into an 18 wheeler causing it to burst into flames.

Also on Friday, 49 year old Joe Jock was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from his chevy truck when he hit a cement culvert in St. Landry Parish culvert. Police say Jock was traveling alone and pronounced dead at the scene. 

On Saturday a two vehicle crash on la highway 70 in St. Martin Parish claimed the life of a Sulphur man. Police say that accident happened Saturday morning when 24 year old Charles Parker III was traveling south and for unknown reasons crossed the centerline and struck an 18 wheeler driven by 50 year old Michael Smith of Morgan City. 

Police say Parker too was not wearing a seatbelt and was also pronounced dead at the scene.
