Local Cabinet Business Sustains Heavy Damage After Fire

Two-alarm fire causes heavy damage to cabinet business.

At 8:46 last night, Lafayette firefighters responded to the 1500 block of Verot School road to a report of smoke coming from a building. When firefighters arrived, they noticed heavy smoke and flames in the rear of the building. Once emergency crews entered Brian Hebert Woodworks, they discovered an interior section of the building on fire as well. Thirty firefighters battled the two-alarm fire for approximately 30 minutes before getting it under control. The woodworking shop sustained heavy fire damage to part of the building. There were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
