Kid's Baseball in trouble in Abbeville

KLFY - With no one overseeing the recreation department in Abbeville, summer baseball could be in trouble. As of today the cities summer baseball program has fifty four children registered. But they are still waiting to hear if they'll ever get the chance to play.

Registration for the summer baseball program was in progress when Abbeville’s parks and recreation director was let go, leaving the program in limbo.  Abbeville Councilman at large Francis Plaisance is asking for the public’s assistance.

Plaisance hopes that the community will rally together with coaches, parents, and any individuals stepping up to the plate organizing teams and playing baseball. A public meeting was called Thursday night at 6PM to discuss the future of the program. If anyone has questions, would like to register their child to play or like to help, call Abbeville city hall or councilman Plaisance at (337) 652-0646
