Meth Labs Busted in Scott

 On April 27, 2014 Scott Police Officers went to the home at 2900 West Willow lot #116 to speak with Sean Wagers about acts of vagrancy and panhandling. While approaching the home Officers observed two bottles in the back of a truck parked at the residence. The two plastic bottles contained residue from what Officers suspected to be a methamphetamine laboratory. Officers made contact with the residents of the home, Melinda Sellers, Christopher Miller and Sean Wagers. Officers advised the subjects of their rights in accordance with Miranda and questioned them about the bottles. The subjects denied any knowledge of any bottles. Mr. Miller and Ms. Sellers admitted to being methamphetamine users and signed a written consent to search form. Lafayette HazMat and Scott Fire Department were contacted and assisted with location and identification of all items.

Upon a search of the vehicle
two additional active methamphetamine laboratories were located. Upon search of the home, 3 more methamphetamine laboratories were located. Two of the laboratories were in-active and one was still actively cooking methamphetamine. Officers continued to search the home and located multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia, to include needles and smoking devices, as well as a smoking pipe containing 1 gram of marijuana. Officers also located 0.8 grams of methamphetamine. After speaking with Mr. Miller he confessed to the laboratories, methamphetamine and marijuana being his. Ms. Sellers claimed ownership of two of the hypodermic needles.

Mr. Miller confessed to operating the lab and Ms. Sellers confessed to knowing about the lab. Mr. Miller
was transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and booked for La R.S. 40:983 Create/Operate a Clandestine Laboratory; La R.S. 40:967 Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II (Methamphetamine); La R.S. 40:966 Possession of Marijuana; La R.S. 40:1023 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Ms. Sellers was transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and booked for La R.S. 40:983 Principle to Create/Operate a Clandestine Laboratory: La R.S. 40:1023 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
