Lafayette police honored local heroes who have to make Lafayette a safer place to live.
The 31st annual Lafayette Police Crimestoppers' Apreciation Banquet was held Wednesday at the Petroleum Club. The annual banquet honors local citizens who have helped combat crime in Lafayette.
Police say since the program started 31 years ago, they have received over 16,000 anonymous tips from citizens to help crack down on crime in the Hub City.
Police tell us that since the program started, more than $20 million worth of drugs have been taken off of the streets thanks to anonymous tips.
