New Iberia boat dock project near complete

The boat dock project in New Iberia City Park is scheduled for completion in about a month.

The new project includes two fishing piers, improvements to the parking lot, and a new outdoor restroom facility near the children's playground.

New Iberia Mayor Hilda Curry says the project is less about creating more attraction to New Iberia, and more about creating something the current residents of New Iberia can enjoy.

Construction on the project began at the end of February and, barring weather problems, should be complete by the end of May.
