Police arrest Railside Feed burglary suspects

Broussard police responded to an alarm call at Railside Feed on Albertson Pkwy on Sunday. Upon arrival they discovered the business was broken in to and several guns were stolen. Several guns were observed on the floor by the door as well.  Police began collecting evidence and video from the location to identify the suspects.

Monday police received a call from Abbeville police saying that they had a suspect in custody in a carjacking case they were working and also located some guns in a vehicle.  After a search warrant was obtained for the vehicle it was confirmed that the guns were from the Railside burglary that we are working.  Also in the vehicle were the shoes, bandanas and clothes that the suspects were wearing in the video. The suspect that they had in custody is a juvenile and once interviewed he confessed to being involved in the Railside burglary.

Information was obtained that the second suspect and Broussard police located him at a house on Ned L St in Broussard. He also confessed to the crime and was transferred to Abbeville PD for them to interview him on their case.  I am unable to release the names of the suspects due to both of them being juveniles.

Investigation revealed that both suspects escaped the Youth Challenge Program on Saturday and came back here to the Lafayette area.  They then went to Wal-Mart in Broussard and stole the clothes that they used in the burglary prior to going to Railside.  Once at Railside they broke in to the business and stole several long guns.

Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Lafayette Juvenile Detention Facility on the charges of:  aggravated burglary and theft

Six of the guns were recovered but there is still one that is missing.  If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of the gun or further info on the crime, please contact Broussard police.
