UPDATE: Burned Body Identified

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, the identity of one of two victims located in a burnt SUV on Claude Rd. just south of Maurice during the early morning hours of April 16, 2014 has been positively identified as that of Cody James Fell w/male dob5/12/79 of 109 Piedmont Lane Youngsville, La.  

Sheriff Couvillon says that the identity of the female victim has yet to be determined. If anyone has information with regards to this homicide you are urged to contact the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division at 898-4403. Additional updates will be provided as the investigation moves forward.


In an update to two bodies found burnt in a vehicle on Claude Rd. Earlier this week Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon says that an autopsy has determined that the bodies are those of a male and female, however race has not been determined, No additional information is available at this time.
According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, at approximately 1:00am this morning Sheriff's deputies responded to a vehicle fire on Claude Road just south of Maurice.

Sheriff Couvillon says that upon the fire being extinguished by Maurice Fire Department it was discovered that two bodies were inside the vehicle.

The cause of death has not yet been determined and the investigation is ongoing.

Sheriff Couvillon says that the Sheriff's office is working closely with the Acadiana Crime Lab, State Fire Marshal's Office, and State Police in the processing of the scene, and efforts are being coordinated with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Intelligence unit.

At this time the deaths are considered suspicious, and updates will be provided as the investigation moves forward.
