Fun jump stolen from Walk of Hope

Updated:

University of Louisiana at Lafayette Police said someone stole a fun jump that had been set up for Saturday's 2014 Autism Society of Acadiana Walk of Hope. Three fun jumps were put in place Friday night, but when officials arrived Saturday morning they discovered one was missing. Susie Hargrover, Vice President of the Autism Society of Acadiana called the alleged thievery a shame.

"When you have an event for close to 2,000 kids, autistic kids, and one of their favorite things to do is go in the fun jumps and when one of them is stolen it's upsetting."

However, the missing equipment did not dampen the spirits of those who turned out at the Blackham Coliseum for the walk.

Hundreds gathered for a day full of fun and entertainment with an atmosphere of excitement. Walkers began the short fun walk along Cajundome Boulevard and enjoyed a variety of food and soft drinks at the conclusion of the walk. Some of the activities for children included assembling small building kits, climbing rock walls, playing in fun jumps and a gaming trailer with indoor and outdoor video games.

Anyone with information on the stolen fun jump is asked to call UL Lafayette police at 337-482-6447.
