Two arrested in death of 10-month-old

Updated:

Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office investigators arrested two adults in the death of an 10 month old child.

Deputies responded to the 100 block of Le Medicin Road near Carencro on Friday concerning a child who was non-responsive and reported lifeless.

Initial information developed was that the child had accidentally suffocated during the night and the mother had discovered the child non-responsive in the morning.

Authorities were called in and after examining all evidence concluded that the child had severe trauma consistent with prolonged abuse. A complete review of the evidence continues in the matter but investigators believe the death was a result of an injury the child sustained on Thursday.

Detectives arrested the child's mother, 26-year-old Karin Dupuis, on a charge of accessory to first degree murder and her live in boyfriend 25-year-old Bryant Rogers charging him with first degree murder.

No additional arrests are expected, however the investigation continues.
