Police identify victim in fatal motorcycle crash in Rayne

Rayne police have identified the victim from the crash that occurred on the corner of Chappuis Avenue and West Lessley Street on Sunday March 30.

22-year-old Deontae Lee Landry of  Rayne has been identified as the victim.


Rayne police are investigating a fatality that occurred on the corner of Chappuis Avenue and West Lessley Street.

Officers received a call at 7:49 p.m. of a crash involving a car and a motorcycle. Officers discovered that a 2004 Pontiac Vibe was traveling South on Chappuis Avenue when a 1997 Honda motorcycle traveling East on Lessley Street failed to stop at a stop sign and was then struck by the car.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to American Legion Hospital in Crowley where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the car was also transported to American Legion Hospital as a precaution   with minor injuries.

The identity of the victim will not be release until the next of kin are notified. The investigation is continuing at this time.
