OPD Chief announces bid for 3rd term

Updated:

A message from Chief Perry Gallow:

I wish to formally announce that I will seek a 3rd term as Chief of Police for the City of Opelousas this coming November. Having served as Police Chief for the past 7.5 years, I am prepared and eager to take the next step as I continue to provide proven, progressive leadership for our growing community.

During these 7.5 years I come to realize Opelousas citizens have been very active in the governance of their city. The responsibility of keeping law and order in our city is one that I take extremely serious. I enjoy what I do and I am very grateful for the vote of confidence shown to me by you, the citizens, over the past 2 elections. However, I have not done it alone, the men and women of OPD as well as the support staff has worked very hard and often times, under adverse conditions and for that I owe them much gratitude.

I am a steward not only of the protection of life and property, and in the prevention and suppression of crime, but also in the community's unique character. My desire to improve the quality of life for all our citizens is as strong today as it was the 1st day, Dec. 16, 1988, I pinned on the badge. Law abiding citizens can rest assure that criminals will continue to feel the pressure of aggressive policing in the City of Opelousas.
