Documentation of last pirogue made comes to Vermilionville

Vermilionville will screen "The Pirogue Maker" on March 31 in their Performance Center.

The community is invited to join the their free monthly cultural film series, Les Vues, held the last Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The free film series is curated by filmmakers and enthusiasts, mostly from around the state.

The films will center around the curator's interest and can range from features, documentaries, student film, shorts, animation, etc.

Following the screenings will be an open discussion between the audience and the curator about the movie and how it applies on a local level. The March 31st screening will be curated by Dr. Ray Brassieur.

Admission to the film series is free, but a suggested $5 donation will go towards screening and curating costs. Refreshments will be available for purchase for this all ages free film series.

    On Monday, August 25, 2014 at approximately 12:00 pm the Lafayette Police Department responded to 1404 Carmel Drive, a residence in Village Du Lac, in reference to the death of a 92 year old female. Initially the investigation did not reveal anything suspicious. The body was later examined by the coroner and determined to be a homicide.
