Home invader shot in New Iberia


Sheriff Louis Ackal advises that on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 8:39pm a call was received by Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Communication Center from a resident stating that he was awaken by someone attempting to break into his balcony bedroom door. The resident then armed himself with a hand gun and discharged 2 rounds at the intruder.

The intruder later identified as Charles Prince was struck once on the left arm.  A separate 911 call was received from Charles Prince, located at 5507 East Admiral Doyle Drive, stating he had been shot near the victim's residence. Prince was later located and transported to Iberia Medical Center.  

After an investigation by Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Bureau of Investigation a warrant will be applied for the arrest of Charles Prince charged with Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling. Prince remains at Iberia Medical Center due to his medical condition.
