Suspect vehicle burglar arrested after struggle

Updated:

A vehicle burglar has been arrested on multiple counts for burglary and other charges.

Crowley Police responded to a burglary in progress call in the 500 block of North Ave B on March 17th at 7:24 pm. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the home owner was struggling with a suspect whom had just broken into his vehicle. After a short resistance, officers were able to get the suspect into custody.

"During the arrest of the suspect, the suspect threw a handgun which he had in his possession away from him" stated Chief KP Gibson. "Officers recovered the firearm and through their investigation, they discovered that the weapon has been stolen on Saturday (3/15/14) from a vehicle in a shopping center in Crowley. The suspect was originally charged with the possession of stolen property, however further investigation revealed that the suspect was the actual person who committed the burglary".

Arrested and booked into the Acadia Parish Jail was Tyrin Brown, 22 of Crowley. Brown has been charged with 2 counts of burglary (One being aggravated), resisting arrest and possession of stolen property.

"The officers did a good job of putting the pieces of the puzzle together to solve two burglaries. We will continue our review of Brown to see if he is involved in other crimes" stated Chief Gibson.
