Lafayette Consolidated President Joey Durel plans to start the Town Hall Meetings with topics talked about a month ago during his State of the Parish Address.

Durel says the Town Hall Meetings will allow him more time to go into more detail. "I speak for about 15 or 20 minutes and I throw some ideas out there, but you're not able to get into the level of detail to explain the logic to explain the importance," explains Durel.

Durel says he wants to know what's on the minds of Lafayette Parish residents.  "So, at least if people are going to help us make decisions about the future of Lafayette I rather them have a better understanding of the subjects were talking about."

The public is invited to ask questions about millages, the airport or building a performing arts center. One subject Durel is sure he wants to talk about is the topic of Consolidation.

"Consolidation will be a disaster for Lafayette Parish in the future if we don't start making some changes now. So rather than waiting for problems to exist I rather people at least be aware of what's coming; so if they're ever given the opportunity to vote on some of the potential adjustments to what we have as far as our consolidated government, they'll have a better awareness of what's developing," adds the mayor-president.

The next public meeting is March 24th at the Clifton Chenier Center.
