St. Landry authorities arrest Romania man for money laundering

St. Landry Parish authorities arrested a man after they conducted a traffic stop and found $50,000 and several fake identifications cards.

Authorities stopped Dorin Munteanu from Romania on Highway 190 west of St. Landry Parish.

According to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, "Allegedly, Munteanu has been laundering U.S. currency at local Wal-Mart's and Money Gram locations by using several fake ID's from New Jersey and South Carolina. The money was then being shipped to Romania."

Munteanu is facing charges of money laundering, fraudulent documents and several traffic violations.

Munteanu was transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail. He currently has a bond of $104,000.
