Unrestrained Church Point man succumbs to injuries

A late night crash single vehicle crash on US Highway 190 west of Lawtell has claimed the life of a Church Point man.
 
On March 15, at 11:40 p.m., 45-year-old Michael Cunningham of Church Point was driving a Dodge truck west on US Highway 190.  For reasons still under investigation, Cunningham traveled off the right side of the road, entered the ditch and struck a culvert. 

Cunningham, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.  Shortly after his arrival, Cunningham succumbed to his injuries.
 
Troopers suspect alcohol was a factor in this crash and routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
 
This crash remains under investigation.
