Opelousas police arrest 3 men on drug charges

Updated:

Opelousas police arrested three men Tuesday after a search warrant turned up over a pound and a half of marijuana along with oxycontin and lortab pills.

Police executed the warrants after receiving a tip about drug trafficking out of two homes in the 700 block of Planters Street.

57-year-old Roy Mayo was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute illegal narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.

28-year-old Marcus Sam and 45-year-old Al Kirt Joubert were also arrested on outstanding warrants for failure to appear.

These arrests are the latest in an attempt to crack down on crime in the Planters Street area and now police are asking for your help.

If you have any information to aid officers in their investigation, please call Opelousas police at 948-2500.
