An Opelousas inmate died Wednesday after he was taken to jail following a disturbance call at Evangeline Downs Casino.

When police arrived they found 31-year-old Burley Washington, also known as Ricky Gloston, of Opelousas being restrained by security officers. Washington was then arrested and taken to jail.

Police say once at the Opelousas Police Department, Washington collapsed while being removed from the patrol car.

An ambulance was called to transport Washington to the hospital.

Washington was pronounced dead at 1:55 a.m. The cause of death is unknown at this time. An autopsy has been scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday March 7.
